LINEA SERIES

FREESTANDING COOKERS

RANGEHOOD/VENTILATION

Linea is designed to maximise all available
space. Light, uniform lines, balance and
ergonomics are the distinctive elements
of the Linea aesthetic.
With its sleek stainless steel and
Supersilver glass exterior, the Smeg Linea
series has a timeless, streamlined appeal
that embodies the superior performance
of the technology within. The perfect
solution for a designer kitchen, the Linea
series provides a fully co-ordinated look,
but is equally suited to a stand-alone
application. The 60cm ovens provide
an incredible 68-litre cooking capacity,
with five shelves. Smeg Cool Door
technology ensures the oven has one
of the safest, coolest doors available.
The oven also offers Smeg’s Smart Chef
menu options, with nine pre-set recipes
and an interactive capability so you can
programme your own favourites.
Other ranges by Smeg include the
Classic, and Marc Newson ranges.
Smeg designers strongly maintain that
a freestanding cooker should stand alone
as a beautiful piece of furniture. Together
with Smeg engineers, they have produced
a range of distinctive, technologically
superior upright cookers that will be the
focal point of any kitchen.
Cookers come in colour options
satin stainless steel, black, cream, or
anthracite, with electric ovens and a
choice of gas, ceramic or induction
hobs. The latest release from Smeg is
a 900mm-wide cooker with a five-zone
induction cooktop and a nine-function
oven sporting the latest thermoseal
technology.
Stand-out features of this cooktop
include ease of use, an extraordinary low
simmer and superior energy efficiency.
Smeg freestanding cookers also offer
pre-programmed recipes, cool doors,
stable shelving and a full-width storage
compartment that is ideal for bakeware,
pans and large utensils.
If one of the 19 models of freestanding
cookers does not satisfy, Smeg has an
extensive range of built-in ovens.
Made from the highest quality materials,
Smeg rangehoods have sleek good
looks and high-performance extraction
rates. Most models offer a recirculating
mode, or steam and odours can be
vented directly to the outdoors. Advanced
sensor control is a recent innovation.
This technology provides convenience
and efficiency. With the control set to
automatic, the hood will turn on when
it senses vapour or an increase in
temperature. It will turn itself off as soon
as these factors have been corrected.
Design considerations have also been
taken into account. From concealed
Powerpacks to wall-mounted hoods and
the Designer Series of rangehoods, there
is something for every kitchen.

ORBITAL WASH SYSTEM

DISHWASHERS

RETRO REFRIGERATION

SMEG CELEBRATING 25

YEARS IN NEW ZEALAND

The orbital wash system consists of a
double spray arm with a contra-action
rotation, which distributes water evenly
throughout the dishwasher cavity. The
spray arm jets are perfectly shaped to
direct water with precision, ensuring an
excellent quality of wash and a greatly
reduced noise level. This means that 86%
of the water in the dishwasher is active.
Smeg’s whisper-quiet dishwashers
combine extraordinary design detail with
high performance and water and energy
efficiencies. The dishwashers present
a collection of world firsts – from the
orbital wash system and polycarbonate
plinths that dampen vibration and noise,
to the rinse/hold and ultra-heavy duty
programmes. The new 15-place setting
dishwasher offers high load flexibility and
improved performance. It also has more
space for cutlery and long utensils.
Many Smeg dishwashers also have an
EnerSave option for energy efficiency.
Another development from Smeg
is Hyclean, which uses higher rinse
temperatures and shorter rinse time to
ensure dishes are clean and sanitised.
This is available on selected models.
Smeg’s Retro range of refrigerators has
captured the attention of consumers
and designers the world over. Available
in ten vibrant colours, these 1950s-style
appliances aren’t made to be hidden
away in the corner of the kitchen.
Rather, they are instantly recognisable,
high-impact refrigerators designed to
make a bold statement. The Retro range
has become emblematic of pushing the
accepted boundaries for the design of
domestic appliances.
Special features of the popular FAB28
Retro refrigerator include an ice box
compartment, a 4.5-star energy rating,
auto refrigerator defrost, four quick-chill
crystal glass shelves, a vegetable/fruit
crisper, chilled meat keeper, chrome wine
rack and ice trays. The equally popular
FAB32 has the same features but is larger
and offers two frozen food drawers.
Smeg appliances are distributed in
New Zealand by Applico Ltd, a 100%
family-owned and operated New Zealand
business that has been importing
European appliances for 25 years.
Applico managing director Mark Jones
credits much of Applico’s success to the
unbelievable support the company has
received from Smeg and the wonderful
relationship built up between the two
companies.
Smeg is also a family-owned business,
founded by the Bertazzoni family in
Italy, in the 1940s. The company is
now under the direct control of Roberto
Bertazzoni, whose foresight secured
the design talents of world-renowned
architects, such as Mario Bellini, Guido
Canali, Renzo Piano and more recently,
Marc Newson. That foresight continues,
with Smeg constantly breaking new
ground in design originality and superior
performance.
Here in New Zealand Applico continues to
promote innovation – and foster the family
environment that has been an integral
part of the business of both companies.
