
The Smeg Omnichef oven has a amazing feature that combines Oven, Steam and Microwave all together. It is known as Multitech. It combines the best of all the cooking technologies to give you great food fast. With this dish you can save yourself a lot of time as there is no need to precook the meatballs at all. Just put all the parts of the dish together and pop it in the oven and dinner is ready in 30 minutes.
METHOD
- Place all the meatball ingredients into the bowl of a food processor and process until the ingredients are blended evenly together.
- Roll the meatball mixture into golfball sized balls and place in a large casserole dish at least 8cm deep
- Scatter the gnocchi around the meatballs
- Pour passata mixed with stock around the meatballs and gnocchi.

Distribute the cherry tomatoes including the juice around the dish

Top with the bocconcini then sprinkle on parmesan

Place in the middle of a cold oven and set to Cooking>Multitech>Multitech> 230c 40% moisture, 300W for 35 minutes (it will probably take less time than this)
- Set a minute minder timer for 20 minutes to check the browning of the dish. It will probably take around 25 minutes to golden brown when you can remove it from the oven.
- Sprinkle with basil leaves (optional)

Meatballs
500g minced pork or beef or mixture of the two
2 cloves garlic , crushed
½ t crushed chilli or chilli flakes,( optional)
2t dried Italian or provencal herbs
½ c panko crumbs
1 egg
1t beef stock powder
Handful of parsley roughly chopped
Sauce
1 500ml jar good quality passata of your choice
250 ml chicken or beef stock
250g premade gnocchi
2T worchestershire sauce
1 can cherry tomatoes
8-10 bocconcini or a ball of mozzarella torn into pieces
½ c grated parmesan
